About Us

St George IOC, Darwin, Australia

Welcome to the St George Indian Orthodox Church in Darwin, Northern Territory Australia. The church has a total of 14 families and began initially as a prayer group in February 2020. Young migrant families from Kerala driven by their incessant desire to honour and praise the lord for all the blessings in their lives were advised and guided by the beloved and honourable Bishop of Chennai diocese His Grace Dr. Yuhanon Mar Diascoros to gather all their brethren and establish the church. We celebrate the living holy sacrifice of our lord and saviour Jesus Christ in the faith of the oriental Orthodox Church and the sacred traditions of the Indian Orthodox Church in Malayalam and English.

As the scriptures say

All scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the servant of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work." – 2 Timothy 3:16-17

Objectives

Our primary objective is to promote a Christian way of life in keeping with the faith and teachings of the Indian Orthodox Church. Our aim in establishing this congregation is the education and spiritual nourishment of all the members, to foster spirituality among our future generations and to anchor Christian values of generosity, courage, love, respect, hope and peace in all our members.

St George Indian Orthodox Church adds value to Australian society by inculcating an understanding of different cultures, promoting community interactions and by providing spiritual, educational, social, and moral support to all its children.
